A humble plea for assistance...Dear Brethren, As I am sure you are aware,
there has never been a greater need for sound gospel preachers than there is today.
My name is Cloyd Benson Frock, Jr.; I am a student at the Florida School of Preaching,
where I began classes on January 7, 2008 On April 4, 2004, at the age
of 34 years old, I became a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ, having been
baptized into Christ (Galatians 3:26-27). Since obeying the Gospel, I have spent many
hours each week devoted to studying and discussing His word, and have since developed
a great passion for preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After much
prayerful consideration, I made the decision to resign from secular employment to
dedicate my life in service to our Lord. This was not a decision made in haste. I
spent nearly two years contemplating this path before stepping out on faith. Since graduating high school in
1987, I have served my community full-time as a civil servant – first with the City
of Tampa as a Police Crime Scene Technician (11 years), and then as a Business Analyst
with the Hillsborough County Water Department (7 years). It is a matter of public
record that I consistently received outstanding annual performance reviews throughout
my public service career, and have of my own accord made the decision to leave secular
employment for the work of the church. As you may know, the Florida School
of Preaching has been training men to preach the word (2 Timothy 4:2) since 1969; they
are not affiliated with Florida College in Tampa, nor are they affiliated in any way with
what has been referred to as the Crossroads / Boston Movement. The faculty and staff are
men of unquestioned loyalty to the cause of Christ. Each week I will be attending classes
six to eight hours per day, while seeking to work as often as possible with local congregations
needing assistance with preaching and teaching. Although the Florida School of
Preaching does not charge tuition, there are associated expenses, such as text books,
food, and housing, for which I will continue to be responsible. This is a four-year
curriculum condensed into an intensive two-year program of study, including work assignments
with local congregations. For this reason, the Florida School of Preaching does not permit
the student body to hold any form of outside employment. My wife, Elisha, stands 100% behind
my decision to enter into this most important work, and she is committed to continue working
full time for the Hillsborough County Library System to help offset the financial burden, but
her income alone will fall well short of supporting our monthly living expenses. I hope that you will give prayerful consideration
to my request for financial assistance. Please note that I am not requesting full support from any
individual or congregation; any amount that you can give to offset my monthly expenses will be
greatly appreciated. And if you are able to assist, I will keep you informed of my progress in
school, as well as provide you with a monthly financial report detailing all receipts and disbursements
in support of my efforts. Rest assured, brethren, that any money given to this
cause will be used in good faith. If you have any questions you may contact
me at (813) 770-2277, or Jackie M. Stearsman, director of the Florida School of Preaching, at
(863) 683-4043. Thank you very much for your kind consideration. Yours in Christ, Cloyd
